Nestlé to Invest $50 Million to Expand Eau Claire, Wisconsin Manufacturing Facility

Investment will create 70 new jobs and eliminate plastic straws from all product packaged at the facility

VEVEY, SWITZERLAND (DEC 1st 2020) – Nestlé today announced a $50 million investment to expand its manufacturing facility in Eau Claire, WI. The expansion is expected to significantly increase annual production, allowing the Nestlé Health Science business to meet a growing demand for products globally and in the U.S., which will bring 70 additional manufacturing jobsto the local community. The jobs range from processing, packaging and filling lines to mechanics and engineers.

Leading Nestlé Health Science’s sustainability efforts, the Eau Claire facility is a zero waste to landfill facility with plans to be powered by 100% renewable electricity by 2025. The investment will also eliminate all straws on product packaging manufactured at the Eau Claire facility through the expansion, representing 125 million plastic straws per year. In addition, all of the medical nutrition products produced at the facility will be converted to more user-friendly reclosable packaging that may help consumers reduce food waste.

After the expansion, the Eau Claire manufacturing facility will continue to fully support the U.S. and will increase exporting to our main markets of Canada, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, and Taiwan.

“With this investment, our Eau Claire Factory will become our largest Nestle Health Science manufacturing site. We are proud to build on our longstanding commitment to the Eau Claire community and drive from there our unparalleled passion for nourishing and enhancing lives.”,” said Jean-Denis Fournier, Vice President of Technical & Production Nestlé Health Science USA. “The Nestlé factory started manufacturing in Eau Claire in 1987. The community has been vital to our success for over thirty years, so we’re excited to deepen our partnership and increase local economic opportunity through the facility expansion.”

The Eau Claire facility currently manufactures medical nutrition products (e.g. Peptamen® and IMPACT®), nutritional drinks (e.g. BOOST®) and infant formulas (e.g. Gerber® Good Start®). Following the expansion, the facility will also begin manufacturing BOOST® Kids Essentials™ and some Carnation Breakfast Essentials® products.
